Geoff will be demonstrating how to create dynamic compositions that move the viewer’s eye comfortably throughout the painting.  We do this with lost and found edges, a strong overall pattern of light and shadow, and tonalities.  No matter how much we plan, watercolor is at its best when we let it do the work for us, make bold fresh marks and embrace this playful medium.

Geoff has been an illustrator for many years but since 2020 has devoted himself to plein air painting, plein air competitions, and teaching.  His artistic journey has entailed black and white street photograph, oil painting, installation, sculpture, and now plein air watercolor. Geoff has a Masters in Fine Art from Claremont Graduate University and has received many prestigious awards in plein air, notably the Best of Show at Laguna Plein Air Painter's Association 2023 "Best of Plein Air” exhibition and the Artists Choice Award at the Sonoma Plein Air Festival 2023.
