Watermedia Flow - Golden Artist Colors, manufacturer of Golden Acrylics, QoR watercolors and Williamsburg Oil paints, presents Watermedia Flow: This comprehensive overview of water media applications begins with an in-depth tour of QoR, an amazing line of transparent watercolor with innovative technology at its core. Discover the science in the paint and pigmentation of watercolor. Get inspired with watercolor effects achieved in High Flow and Fluid Acrylics. Compare traditional gouache to Golden's new SoFlat! See hands on demonstrations of a wide range of grounds and substrates, including materials that allow watercolor over nontraditional substrates like wood and Plexiglas. Additionally, we'll explore monoprinting techniques, ways to incorporate drawing into watermedia and a variety of mixed media applications. Fun and informative for traditional and non traditional watercolorists alike.
Kathryn Elliott Duncan has been involved with art materials for more than 25 years. As a 'materials geek' she is interested in the science of pigments, innovative uses of paint media and mixing media such as painting, textiles, printing and assemblage. Graduating with a BFA in Painting and Printmaking in Chicago, she went on to work as a buyer and product developer at Blick art materials until moving to California in 2006. She has become well versed in Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Encaustic, Drawing media, Intaglio, Monoprinting, Beading and Embroidery both as a user and an educator. To Kathryn, the most thrilling part of working with materials is drawing on this knowledge to "solve" artists' dilemmas when trying to create a specific effect. In 2011 she started Art Workout, a company devoted to art education and inspiration for artists of all ages and experience levels. Encouraging others to nurture their creative selves has become a passion and Kathryn believes each artist is also a precious artwork. More recently she’s been excited to develop her mural portfolio, with several exterior murals going up in her local community. As an artist in the Golden Working Artist Program, Kathryn enjoys developing an array of acrylic techniques to keep pace with the amazing body of information and product depth available from Golden Artist Colors.
