Watch as Heather shares her process of painting a still-life in gouache from start to finish. She will go over basic composition, lighting, and tips and tricks to create vibrant and beautiful paintings.

Heather Ihn Martin is an artist with a serious passion for painting from life. With gouache as one of her favorite mediums, she is able to capture light and color with energetic and expressive brush strokes. While she enjoys painting all subjects, she is best known for her impressionist plein air work, and still-lifes. Prolific and ever-striving to learn, Heather creates work on a near daily basis, and loves a good challenge. She currently resides in Concord, California.

Watercolor became a weekend hobby in 2000. It started to get more serious as Do's love for the challenging nature of watercolor painting grew immensely. Drawing and sketching are now a daily activity.

Juan “Magoo” Valencia, Filipino, now residing permanently in the USA, is a fine arts graduate of the University of the Philippines. He was one of the founding fathers of the Philippine Watercolor Society and was a watercolor instructor at Ayala Museum in the Philippines for 3 years. Magoo was also a former Vice-president of the most prestigious art club in the Philippines, The Saturday Group of Artists. He worked as an art director for over 30 years at several advertising agencies. He has taught watercolor both in the Philippines and in the US, where he has conducted numerous watercolor workshops. He has participated in over 100 group art shows as well as being featured in several one man shows. Magoo honed his technique while working as a portrait and caricature artist at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Magoo was named Artist of the Year by Torrance Art Guild in 2008 and 2009. Recently, his latest one-man show on February 2019 celebrated his 40^th year as a member of The Saturday Group of Artists. His favorite subjects include landscapes, still life, seascapes, figures, and old houses.
